We are continuing the Hybrid Dances 7th edition, proposing the practice of Contact Improvisation, Movement - Dance in permeation with other somatic practices and trans-disciplinary improvisations in Lisbon and beyond, to which we invite everyone to participate. Contact Improvisation, initially a hybrid of Aikido and gymnastics , we want to emphasize this aspect of disciplinary and cultural mixing, melting and converging characteristics of most practices offered .
The workshops include the hybridization of related approaches to Contact Improvisation, Butoh Dance, Yoga, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, Ayurvédic Massage, Authentic Movement, Biodanza, Trance Dance, Active Meditation, and more. The Jams are open to everybody’s participation, a call for trans-disciplinary experimentation, including motion -dance- sound - voice - chanting - picture -drawing - photography – video - interactivity.
The informal performances will include improvisations with workshop teachers/choreographers and/or participants.
Hybrid Dances are an opportunity to experiment and extend the somatic practice of contact improvisation and improvisation with Portuguese and foreign teachers, including, Isabel Valverde, Caterina Foà, Cristina Sales, Kate Taranova, Francisca Irina, Teca Batista, João Silva, Elmo Camilo, Igor Ditzhuijzen, Rita Venturini, Miguel Sevilhano, and Chaitanya (some still to confirm)
The initiative aims to stimulate the exchange of and access to improvisation through the collaboration between professionals and structures dedicated to these therapeutic, creative, and artistic practices in multiple strands. We also want to promote the interplay between zones, spaces, organizations and people, embracing several places, publics / populations throughout Lisbon and beyond towards fostering cohesion and inclusive dialogue with common purposes of openness and creative sociability.
English speaking Classes at the Festival - All welcome.
